heavy, if you will. id call it chubby, cait called it as she saw it: fat. i probably weighed about 140-145 at my heaviest, the end of high school and most of college. i ran (okay jogged), but i was still fat. i could be very disciplined for a week, trying to lose the weight. but, i had a weakness for ice cream and french fries. i had friends who ate ice cream and french fries. and when i didnt have friends, well, i still had ice cream and french fries. see the pattern?
then i got HEAVILY into the tri scene. not racing per se. more like, my boyfriend was part of it, all of my new friends were part of it. now instead of ice cream and french fries i had water and cycling.
and then i met jesse, and i had the core diet. my race weight is 105, my "off season" (ie stress fracture) weight is 110-112.
now, i can eat bad things if i want to without getting re-fat. when i was training for the marathon and running 60 miles a week i was in calorie debt because i didnt even have time to eat enough!!
who would have thought, a former fat girl, forcing herself to have ice cream once in a while so she didnt get too thin.
ah yes, the life of a runner. hence the title, "that runner chick".
