first entry

I decided to enter the 21st century. Livejournal is out- eBlogger is in.
I have a lot of time on my hands lately, a stress fracture has had me sidelined for an unheard of 5 months, and I am beginning to go stircrazy. Stircrazy and fat that is. There is nothing like the depression of losing all fitness and a hobby to kick your junkfood appetite into high-drive. There is a "triathlete diet" created by a friend that both me and my boyfriend follow. On Saturday I hopped back on the bandwagon. It is hard to say the least. Giving up bread and bacon and ice cream is REALLYREALLY hard. Not having willpower is also hard. Anyways, other than the 2 breadsticks and 2 oreos I had today I umm....okay who am I kidding today is shot. Tomorrow will be better.
Which brings me to my next subject. Tomorrow is Parent-Teacher conference day. I am a high school math teacher at an inner city school. I have almost 100 students. I will be lucky if 12 parents show up. I have to be AT SCHOOL at 6:45 AM, and the kids whos parents I NEED to talk to, the ones that need home intervention and help, are the ones that won't show up. Four days until February Vacation. Don't let anyone fool you--teacher's countdown to vacation just as much (if not more) than the students.
For now I am enjoying my afternoon without work, I am drinking a Diet Mountain Dew (trying to curb that junk food appetite trying to take over), my dogs are sitting on my lap, and I am watching Lockdown on the National Geographic Channel. That show makes me grateful for my freedoms. I have been minorly obsessed with prison shows and prison lately. I went through an Oz phase too, right after I graduated college. I watched every episode on OnDemand within a month. I went to college for psychology, at first wanted to be a marriage counselor/sex therapist, then wanted to be a prison psychiatrist, and then well...then I ended up as a teacher.
I got into teaching for the summers off, and now despite the kids driving me batty sometimes, I love my job for what I do not the time off!!
I guess thats enough for a first entry.
